Photo of Zombie Fungus Infecting Insect Wins Ecology Competition
A photo of a “zombie” fungus that killed a fly and then erupted from its body has won the BMC Ecology and Evolution image competition 2022. The astonishing image was taken by Roberto García-Roa, an evolutionary biologist and conservation photographer, who captured the unsettling photo in the Peruvian jungle of Tambopata.
Nature TTL Photographer of the Year 2022
The 2022 competition saw over 8,000 images competing for the title of Nature TTL Photographer of the Year 2022, with photographers submitting images from all around the world. The Overall Winner took home a £1,500 cash prize, whilst the Young winner secured a £250 camera voucher prize.
