Sony E 11mm f/1.8 – Review Test report

Sony E 11mm f/1.8 – Review Test report

At the time Sony announced their set (11mm f/1.8, 15mm f/1.4G, 10-20mm f/4G) of new ultrawide APS-C lenses back in June (2022), it caused quite a stir in the Sony community. Given the fact that all the rage was about full-format gear in recent years, such a visible commitment to the format was certainly a relief. In this review, we’ll have a look at the lens that is probably the most interesting of the bunch – the Sony E 11mm f/1.8.

Laowa FFII 90mm F2.8 Ca-Dreamer Macro 2X: getting close

Laowa FFII 90mm F2.8 Ca-Dreamer Macro 2X: getting close

A couple of years ago, with samples taken on the last major overseas trip I took before Covid closed the world for quite a while, I reviewed the Laowa 100mm macro. I concluded it was good and sharp, a little challenged for flare at longer distances, but absolutely superb in the macro range. Of course, inevitably, after I paid my money, Laowa announced a new lens – a 90mm, built specifically for mirrorless, and a lot more compact, with otherwise similar specs.

Review : Samyang 10mm 3.5 XP

Review : Samyang 10mm 3.5 XP

The Samyang 10mm 3.5 XP is a bit of an odd lens. It is still the widest lens for DSLRs, but it was announced at a time when no one really cared about DSLRs anymore. And it came out after the Voigtländer 10mm 5.6, which surely didn’t help the marketing department. So is there still a reason to get the Samyang 10mm 3.5 XP in 2022?

Meike 8mm f/2.8 MFT – Review / Test Report

Meike 8mm f/2.8 MFT – Review / Test Report

Meike has had quite a stampede of new lens releases lately. One of their most ambitious new designs is the new Meike 8mm f/2.8 MFT. You may think that this is another fish-eye, but it is, in fact, a fully correct ultra-wide lens equivalent to 16mm on full-format cameras. Priced at $399 USD, it is not a budget item anymore, but it’s also not your average optical construction either – consisting of no less than 17 elements, including two aspherical elements.
