Snow and umbrella on Campo San Silvestro, Venice, Italy, 2001

To see Venezia (Venice) under the snow was an old dream: I wasn’t disappointed! Only problem: some snow ended inside one of my two cameras and it stopped to work…

I shot this photo Campo San Silvestro, sheltered from the falling snow by the “sotoportego de la pasina” that you can see in the left bottom corner, under the four windows with the green closed shutters. Here is an other view, but Google Maps is a little bit crazy mixing 2013 (construction work) and 2017 Street View!

On the background of the photo, you can see the church San Silvestro. On the opposite, the “sotoportego de la pasina” will bring you quickly to the Ferry Terminal San Silvestro on the Grand Canal. From here, you can take the public transportation, the “vaporetto”, to Rialto Bridge or to Campo San Angelo.
